Environmental Policy
Superior Cabinets is committed to contributing to the safety and preservation of our environment. We will do everything that we can to ensure its protection. We have therefore adopted the following practices.
Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing Practices
- Energy efficient lighting systems (HID), programmable thermostats and motion sensors are used to manage and reduce energy consumption at the manufacturing facility.
- Discharged heat from compressors in the manufacturing facility is reused to heat other areas of the facility.
- Dust collection fans operate in concurrence with related machinery to reduce energy consumption.
- Ventilation and filtering systems are in place to ensure safe Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) for all staff and safe levels of exhausted air. Regular IAQ tests are performed by Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) to ensure safe indoor air quality.
- Solvents used in the finishing process are reclaimed and reused, which reduces solvent consumption by 50% and reduces hazardous waste output by 75%.
- Our durable clear top-coat varnish protects our cabinetry for years, which reduces the need for short-term replacement or product refinishing.
- Low-emission, particle-core sheet materials are used to construct our cabinetry (less than 0.30 ppm formaldehyde emissions).
- Our main supplier of sheet goods is certified by the KPMG Forest Certification Services Inc. and the Forest Stewardship Council.
- We use computer optimization programs to utilize 90% of all sheet goods. The unused portion of sheet goods is reduced to chips and recycled.
- Sawdust and wood chips are donated to a local business twice per week for use as an element in compost mix.
- 90% of our product is exported to locations within 800km.
- We recycle paper products and documents.
- All cardboard products are recycled.
- Imperfect cabinets and parts are donated to local charities for re-use.
Environmentally Conscious Office Practices
- Energy-efficient lighting systems and programmable thermostats are used to manage and reduce energy consumption.
- We use 15-watt compact florescent flood lamps to reduce power consumption of lighting fixtures by 600% over halogen flood lamps.
- We recycle paper products and documents.
- All cardboard products are recycled.
Our commitment will not end here. We will continue to review our business practices and product offerings in order to increase our contribution to the protection and sustainability of our environment.
